About the Artist

I have an M.A. in television and film from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I’ve always been interested in multi-media and that led me to explore mixed media.

Today, I’m exploring digital art. Most of what I shoot is done almost exclusively on my iPhone 6s. I love the immediacy of this tool. In some ways I consider this to be a modern evolution of the Polaroid.

Many of my work are abstractions where the original image is quite unrecognizable. Other pictures are highly representational, yet are distinctly transformed from the photographs. All the images are put through filters which results in the look of a watercolor, drawing or oil painting. I generally enhance images by hand, with pen, pencil or charcoal.

I have a life-long love of flowers and have been to botanical gardens around the world. Many of my pieces reflect that interest. Other pieces are simply “snaps” of what captures my imagination at any given moment, from a rock Maine beach, to a book store in Chelsea, to a passer-by on the street. I am currently working on a series called “Icons”.

I embellish my pigment prints by hand, some dramatically, others minimally. The result is varied editions.

I’ve been a resident of NY’s Upper West Side for nearly four decades. It’s an endlessly fascinating city and the source for much of my inspiration.
